Madras Football is taking on Estacada tonight. It’s homecoming for Madras. KWSO will broadcast the game this evening. Kickoff is at 7.

Tomorrow Madras Cross Country Team is hosting the Kahneeta Invitational – it starts at 10am.

District meetings on the 2018 proposed Tribal Budget have been set. The Simnasho District meeting is on October 16th, the Agency District meeting on October 23rd and the Seekseequa District meeting will be held on October 24th. All start with dinner at 6:00, and the meetings immediately follow. There are also two other meetings set for November. November 3rd a Minor’s Trust Update and on November 15th a public meeting on Wills and the Funeral Agreement for the tribal membership to review.

Madras High School will honor individuals selected as Distinguished Alumni today.  The honorees are the late Tom Norton, Sr., Class of 1958. Dallas Stovall, Class of 1975, the President/CEO of Bright Wood Corporation. Ken Smith of Warm Springs, Class of 1954.  His appointment as Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Indian Affairs in 1981 was the highest national office of any Central Oregonian, ever.  Margie McBride Lehrman, Class of 1962. With NBC News, she was a producer of the Today Show and Washington Deputy Bureau Chief and won two “Emmys” for her work. Juanita Wickham Kurtin, Class of 1992. She cofounded Pacific Light Technologies, a leader in the development and application of quantum dot technology. And, Erin Olson Class of 1982. She has used her law degree to work state and federal prosecutor, developed a private practice and co-founded the Oregon Crime Victims Law Center. This is the second group of MHS graduates selected as Distinguished Alumni. They are selected by a board made up of current and former educators and community members.
