The Heart of Oregon Youth Build program is offering their final information session this Thursday at 5 in Sisters. Heart of Oregon Program Manager Kara Johnson says they serve Youth interested in completing their GED or High School Diploma while learning job skills in the construction field. Starting Tuesday businesses in Portland, Oregon, will not be allowed to give single-use plastic items unless you ask for them KOIN reports the new policy includes plastic straws, stirrers, utensils and individually packaged condiments. It applies for dining in, takeout and delivery at restaurants, food carts, hotels, grocery stores, coffee shops, caterers and bars. The City Council passed the ordinance in December to reduce plastic waste. Businesses face fines up to $500 for violating the policy.

The Portland Trailblazers kick off their 50th Season with a few new faces after their deep playoff run last spring. Joining Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum on Portland’s Roster are notable names such as Hassan Whiteside, Pau Gasol and Kent Bazemore. The Blazers look forward to the return of injured Jusuf Nurkic after he missed the playoffs with a broken left leg. The Blazers open Preseason camp today and have their first Preseason game Next Tuesday October 8th against the Denver Nuggets.
