The Warm Springs Community Action Team is now scheduling tax appointments. It will be drop-off tax preparation. Pick up an envelope at the WSCAT office starting this week and appointments will start on February 3rd through April 9th every Tuesday and Thursday.
Warm Springs Health & Human Services is conducting the 2026 Point-In-Time Count, the annual homeless count, today from 9am to 2pm. The PIT Count assesses the number of homeless people on the reservation and gathers information about their needs. All homeless participants can get breakfast at 8am and lunch from 11-1. If you have a family member who is homeless, please ask them to attend.
There is a senior lunch today at noon at the Warm Springs Senior Center dining area. Senior meals are free for all elders age 60 and older. Folks can join the seniors for lunch – it’s $1 for Youth, $5 for adults or you can assist with clean-up after the meal. Today they are serving menudo with cabbage & avocados, refried beans and birthday cake.
Seniors age 60 and older can get free meals Wednesdays at noon at the Jefferson County Senior Center in Madras.
A parent planning meeting for the Head Start Graduation will be held today at noon at ECE.
The Water Control Board meets today from 1:30 until 4 in Conference Room #3 at the Tribal Administration Building. It meets monthly on the 4th Wednesday.
The Warm Springs K8’s Native American Student Union for 6th, 7th & 8th grade students will meet today from 3-4pm in the Community Room.
Social Dance Classes are held Wednesdays from 3:30-5pm in the Community Center Aerobics Room. Classes are open to all ages, and no sign-up is required. If you have questions, contact Deanie Johnson at Culture & Heritage.
Today is the Free Food Market at the Madras Community Food Pantry, located at 370 SW Culver Highway. Signups will begin at 4 and doors open at 4:30
Papalaxsimisha welcomes students and families to a scholarship information session this evening hosted by The Ford Family Foundation. Dinner will be provided at 5:30 at the old school cafeteria. It’s open to students, parents and community members.
On the Madras High School athletics schedule today: Boys & Girls Wrestling teams are hosting a dual meet with Estacada.
The Community Center is having an Elk Bugling Contest this evening. Prizes will be awarded for both adult & children – first place & runner up. Sign-ups will begin at 6pm in the gym.
Papalaxsimisha is inviting people to join them in celebrating a huge milestone. The celebration will be tomorrow at 5:30pm at the Agency Longhouse. There will be one seven Waashat, a guest speaker & updates, dinner and cake.
KWSO’s annual Mt. Hood Meadows – Warm Springs Tribal Day is coming up Monday, February 2nd, a no school day. Anyone interested in participating to ski, snowboard, cross country ski, or snowshoe can sign up now. To sign up, email sue.matters@wstribes.org with the name, date of birth, phone number and email address for each person who will be participating and whether or not anyone, age 4 or older, will need a beginner lesson. You also need to complete the online liability release form and a Group Consent Form for each participant. Get details about the trip and access forms at KWSO.org.
Walking in Beauty through Difficult Times: A Talk by Diné Elder Lupita McClanahan is coming to Warm Springs. Raised in secrecy by traditional elders in Arizona, Lupita was hidden to preserve her family’s lineage from the boarding school system. Though eventually taken, she drew on her cultural strength to endure and overcome unimaginable challenges. Everyone is welcome to hear her stories Tuesday, February 3rd at the Museum at Warm Springs. There will be a meet & greet starting at 4:00, followed by storytelling. It’s free to attend.
The Warm Springs Holiday Men’s Basketball Tournament was rescheduled for February 19-21. Interested teams should contact Austin Greene at 541-553-3243.
