The Grand Opening of the Plateau Travel Plaza in the Jefferson County Industrial Park in Madras was held on Friday. The business is an extension of the Indian Head Casino Gaming Enterprise. The Grand Opening included drawings and prizes, free lunch, and the chance for Tribal Members to sign up for their Tribal Discount Card. CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State University Board of Trustees on Friday approved tuition and student fees for the 2018-19 academic year, narrowly approving a tuition hike of $8 per credit hour for Oregon resident undergraduate students. That represents a 4.1 percent for full-time students at OSU-Cascades in Bend, where tuition is presently somewhat lower than it is on OSU’s main campus. More than $2 million of the increase will be dedicated to increasing the amount of need-based financial aid that the university provides students. White Buffalo Invitational
Madras High School’s Boys Tennis Invitational was held over the weekend. The eight-team round robin, seven-game tournament had a total of 49 games played. Madras placed third in team scores behind Vale & Henley.
SEATTLE (AP) — The Department of Housing and Urban Development and Veterans Affairs say they will give almost $5 million in vouchers to public housing authorities in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington state. The 675 HUD veteran rental assistance vouchers went to 27 public housing authorities in four states.
