Community Calendar for Saturday May 4, 2019

  • The Small Business Conference in Warm Springs is going on at the Community Center.
  • There is an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting this morning at 10 at Community Counseling.
  • There is a revival today and tomorrow at the agency longhouse. Services today are at 10am, 2pm and 7pm. Tomorrow, there will be a birthday celebration for Lola Sohappy at 10am, a potluck meal at 12:30 and an evening service at 7:00.
  • Hood Meadows is having its Seasons End Festival today. It’s live music on the Mt. Hood Meadows Sun Deck from 11 AM to 4 PM that day, rain or shine. There will be dancing, food, drinks and music.

  • Warm Springs Christian Fellowship meets Sunday morning at 9:30 at the Senior Center.
  • The Warm Springs Baptist Church has Sunday School at 10:00 and Worship Service at 11:00.
  • The Warm Springs Food Bank is located at the Presbyterian Church. They are open Sundays from 11:30-1:30.  All food banks and pantries do take donations of non-perishable food or cash

Monday 5/6

  • The Warm Springs Native Aspirations Prevention Coalition will hold its monthly meeting on Monday at noon at the Emergency Management Building.

Warm Springs K-8’s Spring Concert for 4th & 5th grade choir and middle school bands are on May 7th. There will be two performances – the first at 2:15 at the K-8 gym and the other at 7pm at the Madras Performing Arts Center.

The Native Youth Exploring Higher Education summer camp at Washington State University is taking applications now through June 15th. The free camp is July 15-19 and is open to students who will enter grades 9-10 in the fall. It’s for students to learn about college opportunities and education. Students who want to work through the Warm Springs Summer Work Program need to fill out applications at the Work Experience Development Department in the Education Building. Native American students ages 14-24, who are enrolled in traditional and alternative high school are eligible – the deadline is May 23rd. College students of any age may apply and they have until June 27th. Contact the WEDD office at 541-553-3324 for details.

2019 Tribal Salmon Camp is being hosted by the Nez Perce Tribe at Camp Wittman August 11-17. Students in grades 6-8 who are members or descendants from the four treaty tribes may apply. It’s a free six-day camp and a stipend will be provided after successful completion. They will learn about salmon, restoration projects, and traditional ecology through hands on experience with tribal professionals. To apply go to www.critfc.org. The deadline is May 31st.
