Community Calendar for Sunday May 19, 2019

  •  The boil water order remains in effect for those in Warm Springs on the Agency Water System. Additional water samples will be collected for testing on Monday.  The boil order will be in place until the EPA gives approval for it to be lifted.  Folks should boil water for use by bringing water to a rolling boil for three minutes to use for cooking, drinking, brushing teeth and washing dishes. 
  • Warm Springs Early Childhood Education will remain closed until the boil water order is lifted.
  •  Warm Springs Christian Fellowship meets this morning at 9:30 at the Senior Center.
  • The Warm Springs Baptist Church has Sunday School at 10:00 and Worship Service at 11:00 this morning.
  • The Warm Springs Food Bank is located at the Presbyterian Church. They are open from 11:30-1:30 today, following Sunday Services.  All food banks and pantries do take donations of non-perishable food or cash

Monday 5/20

  • The Work Experience & Development Department is having an application workshop tomorrow for those who have not turned in an application for the Summer Youth Work Program. Youth must be at least 14 years old to apply.
  • Tribal Council will meet tomorrow. Here are the agenda items: the June agenda, travel delegations and minutes review, draft resolutions, enrollments, a legislative update call and an update from Warm Springs Ventures.
  • Tomorrow is a regular late start Monday for 509J schools.
  • A senior citizen volunteer appreciation meal will be held tomorrow at 1pm at the Senior Center.
  • The Fish & Wildlife Committee will meet tomorrow at 3pm at the Tribal Admin Building, conference room 3.

Tuesday 5/21

  • Tuesday is Election Day in Oregon. For your ballot to be counted it needs to be turned in by 8pm at an official ballot drop box.  Boxes are located at the Jefferson County Clerk’s office, Culver City Hall, Metolius City Hall, Crook River Ranch Admin Building, and in Warm Springs on Campus across the street from the Post Office.
  • A Jefferson County Veterans Service Outreach officer will be at the Warm Springs Senior Center on Tuesday. Appointments are available for the morning by calling 541-475-5228. Otherwise, the Veteran’s Service Officer will be available to answer questions during and after the senior meal that day.

A Jefferson County Veterans Expo will be held Thursday June 20th from 10am to 2pm at 860 SW Madison Street in Madras. It is a free family-friendly event designed to educate about veterans issues, services and resources. There will also be a free barbecue, haircuts, massages, kid’s events and mindfulness workshops.

The Trauma, Healing and Resiliency Conference – a methamphetamine and suicide prevention initiative will be held at the Museum at Warm Springs May 29-30 from 8:30-4:30 each day. For more information contact Rosanna Jackson at the Prevention office 541-615-0036.

Warm Springs Recreation will host the Lil’ Miss Warm Springs Pageant on Wednesday, May 22. There’s a dinner at 5pm and the pageant will follow at the Community Center.

The US Census Bureau is hiring census takers for the 2020 Census in Warm Springs. Hourly wages are around $15 an hour with weekly paydays. This income will not affect a person’s TANF or SNAP benefits or HUD eligibility. Applications are due by May 31.
