Snow + Ice = NO SCHOOL

Snow fell overnight in Central Oregon adding a layer of white stuff on top of ice from Tuesday’s freezing rain and fog.  The Jefferson County School District 509-J and the South Wasco County School District both have cancelled school for Wednesday due to the icy road conditions.  Warm Springs Head Start Part Day is also cancelled.

The Warm Springs Indian Health Services Clinic will open at 10 am Wednesday.  That decision was made Tuesday Night.  Just before 6 am this morning the Warm Springs Tribal Organization also decided to delay the start of the work day Wednesday until 10 am.

Roads are snow covered this morning throughout the region.  The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory…which is in effect from 10 am this morning to 4 am PST Thursday. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 am PST this morning.  They expect up to 1 inch of snow and sleet accumulation. snow…sleet and freezing rain this morning will transition to areas of rain and freezing rain this afternoon. Areas of freezing rain will continue through the night before changing to all rain on Thursday.
