A raid on a southeast home in Madras yesterday morning (9/22/19) was the result of Neighbors’ complaints of possible drug sales according to KTVZ TV.  Madras police, the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team and Central Oregon Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant and arrested ten people on various charges ranging from methamphetamine possession to frequenting where controlled substances are being used, resisting arrest and outstanding warrants and/or probation violations.  Arrested were homeowner Richard Christopher, Rebecca Adams, Adam Rubio, Wilma Baza-Saunders, Dylan Mendes, Semaj J. Blackman, Semaj Blackman Jr. Elizabeth Boardman, Mercedes Smith, and Anthony Hernandez.

Warm Springs Tribal Council is in session today.   Last Thursday (9/19/19) they met and heard budget presentations from the Fish and Wildlife On-Reservation Committee, Timber Committee,  Water Board,  Tribal Employment Rights Office (TERO) Commission, TERO Office, Gaming Commission/Surveillance, & Warm Springs Composite Products.    (TC SUM 09.19.19) Tribal Council has been hearing budget presentations all month and will approve a draft budget soon.  District meetings will be scheduled for Tribal members on the 2020 tribal budget in October.

The Warm Springs Fish and Wildlife Off Reservation Committee is hosting a Ceremonial Hunters Meeting this Thursday (9/26/19) from 4-6pm at the Greeley Heights Community Building.  They will provide information regarding rules and process and answer hunters’ questions.

The 19th annual Native American Music Awards have announced their nominations in 33 categories for awards at the event that will be held on Saturday November 2nd in Niagara Falls New York.    Local artists up for recognition include: Bigg B featuring N8 for the Best Music Video Recording for Deep End. Warm Springs Nation Little League will be electing new board members at a meeting this evening at 6 at the Community Center Social Hall.  New Volunteers are being sought.  Board Positions include: President, Vice President, Player agents for both Softball and Baseball, Secretary, Treasurer, Safety Officer, Information Officer, Concessions Manager & Umpire in Chief.  Background checks are done on all Little League Volunteers.

On Saturday, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, which sits on the National Mall in Washington, broke ground for construction of the Native American Veterans Memorial. The memorial, named Warrior’s Circle of Honor, will built of the grounds of the museum.  The $15 million memorial will take over a year to construct and is scheduled to be dedicated on Veterans Day 2020. The Warrior’s Circle of Honor was designed by Harvey Pratt who is of Cheyenne & Arapaho decent.

The Madras White Buffalo Football team was shut out on the road in Rainier on Friday Night.  They lost 44-0.  Up next for the white buffalo – they host Dayton this Friday Night.  KWSO will broadcast that game live.  Join Kelly Simmelink and Neal Morningowl for the call of the game.
