COCC hosting Historic Stories presentation

Central Oregon Community College will host a presentation Gordon Bettles on Historic Stories of the Klamath, coming up on Tuesday, Nov. 10.

The presentation will be from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Hitchcock Auditorium at the COCC Bend Campus. There will be a chance to meet with Mr. Bettles for lunch at the Multicultural Center, from 1:30-3 p.m.  This event is free.

Mr. Bettles was hired as the first Steward and Building Manager of the University of Oregon’s Many Nations Longhouse.

He also served as director of Native American initiatives, and has been conducting research in areas related to Northwest tribes.

Prior to attending the University of Oregon, Mr. Bettles did professional archaeological contracting; and previously worked for the Klamath Tribes for 17 years, serving as the first director of the tribes’ Culture and Heritage Department.
