WS Public Utilities issues another Drinking Water Warning – Use Boiled or Bottled Water

The Warm Springs Public Utilities Department has issued another BOIL WATER NOTICE for the agency area served by the Warm Springs Water Treatment Plant. Routine sampling was taken as the treatment plant was being shut down at 8:00 P.M. on Monday and showed turbidity levels of 1.40 turbidity units, which is above the standard of 0.3. Because of the high level of turbidity, there is an increased chance that the water could contain disease-causing organisms.  Home and facilities served by the Water Treatment Plant are advised to NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST.

Bring all water to a rolling boil for at least three minutes and let cool before using OR use bottled water.  Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.

The Warm Springs Early Childhood Education Center is closing at 2:00 P.M. today (4/23) and will be closed to children until the Boil Water Order is lifted.

EPA has been informed and additional testing is being conducted. Managers anticipate that the boil water notice will be in effect through Wednesday and lifted on Thursday.
