KWSO Calendar for Wed., Feb. 3, 2021

It’s back to on-site, in-person, full day school for Jefferson County 509-J schools Wednesday.   To allow for more social distancing on buses – the bus schedules have changed.  You can find all the district routes HERE.  At the Warm Springs K thru 8 Academy the school day is 9:15 to 3:25.  Family drop off locations are by the new parking lot for K thru 2nd grades.  3rd thru 5th graders get off on the east side of the main office and 6th thru 8 grades stop on the west side of the main office.   CASA online students will log on as usual for classes each day.

Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs offices are at full staffing again.  All facilities will continue to operate with all COVID-19 precautions remain in place including temperature checks when entering, required facemasks and social distancing.  If you feel sick, please stay home.  If you have COVID-19 symptoms – get tested at the Health & Wellness Center.

Symptoms for COVID-19 can include: Fever, Cough, Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, Chills, Muscle pain, Headache, Sore throat, loss of taste or smell.  If you have symptoms or are concerned you came in contact with Covid-19 – call the I.H.S. “COVID-19 Nurse Triage Hotline” at 541-553-5512.

At the Warm Springs Health and Wellness Center they remind you that you must stop at the front gate to check in and that you should call ahead if you plan on going there.

Senior Lunch is today for pick up or delivery from the Warm Springs Senior Center.  Meals are free for those 60 and over.  To learn more, call the Senior Program this morning at 541-553-3313.  On today’s menu is: Clam Chowder with a hot ham and cheese sandwich and fruit.

The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Tribal Council is seeking candidates for the Water Board where two positions are open.  The deadline to apply for that is tomorrow (2/4/21). Submit a letter of interest and your resume to the Tribes’ Secretary Treasurer/CEO.  You will need to complete a criminal and credit background check as part of the process.

  • Papalaxsimisha and Community Health are offering “Beginners Yoga Virtual Class” on Thursdays in the noon hour via Zoom.
  • The Papalaxsimisha Community Network will hold their virtual Zoom meeting this Thursday evening from 6-7:30.  Participants can discuss educational needs, wants and resources for all indigenous students, families and communities.  You can find more information of the Papalazimisha Facebook Page

The Warm Springs Commodities Program is located in the Warm Springs Industrial Park.  They offer food like: cereal, fresh fruit, fresh produce, can veggies and can fruit, pasta, meat, eggs, juice and cheese. The Warm Springs Johnson O’Malley committee asks families with students 3 years old through 12th grade in the 509J or South Wasco County School Districts who are enrolled in a Federally Recognized Tribe to complete the annual JOM survey and enrollment forms.  The  FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE form is now available.  You can find is on KWSO dot ORG in the News and Info tab under opportunities.   If you have questions, contact Carroll Dick at 541-553-3311.

The 2021 Lincoln’s Powwow at the Simnasho Longhouse has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.  KWSO will broadcast recordings from previous years’ powwows, the weekend of February 12th thru the 14th as a virtual way to gather with good feelings.
